Why do I love creating artwork?

I like the unknown element to it which is why I prefer Watercolour and Acrylic as opposed to pencil and pastel..

The Landscape is a beautiful thing that I try to recreate on paper or canvas. My favourite pastime is hiking particularly with my sons in the Lakes or the Peak District. I can lose myself in the painting and think back to the great days out there in the countryside.

I always like to capture the magical light on the hillside or the beauty and complexity of the clouds. I love to paint stormy skies with the rain falling in the distance.

The use of texture pastes has added a whole new dimension to my work together with the use of inks and letting gravity do its thing…

I also enjoy creating art with others and have worked with the local school as well as a Bereavement Group. I have produced a series of paintings titled "Paintings to Remember” to raise money for the Royal British Legion. This gives my life some purpose.

I am never sure how a painting will turn out so if someone likes it then I’m always both thankful and surprised.
